Beatitude refers to a state of great joy, being or feeling blessed.
Blessed are the poor in spirit
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,
There must be emptiness before there can be fullness.
Sometimes, losing things gives room for gaining things
The poor in spirit refers to those who feel a deep sense of spiritual need and understand they are nothing without God; regardless of their attainment.
When Jesus says, ” Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,” He is declaring that before we can enter God’s Kingdom, we must recognise our worthlessness and the inability of our works to save us.
“The kingdom of heaven” essentially refers to salvation. Hence, before we can be saved, we must acknowledge our emptiness.
We are nothing without God, all we have is what He has given. Regardless of your attained Knowledge, and power, be humble before God, then will He enrich you more.
We must admit our spiritual poverty before we can receive the spiritual riches God offers(Ephesians 1:3). We must, in short, be “Poor In Spirit.”
